Glinda sketches

I have been brainstorming Oz stories for about five years now. This includes visual brainstorms and concept art for the eventual graphic novels of some Hidden History of Oz stories. To give an idea of some of the character development over the last two years, I thought I would start with the hero – Glinda.
Glinda is the teenage daughter of the most powerful sorceress in Oz. Through a series of tantrum-inspired events, Glinda becomes an orphan on the run from the Wicked Witches. (See The Witch Queens novel for full details.)

For reference purposes, here is a public domain illustration of Glinda from one of Baum’s books, Glinda of Oz. This is Glinda approximately 60 years after HH1: The Witch Queens. She learned the secret to aging well. You’ll just have to read the book and find out what it is.

Thank you. As I get further along in my writing, I am going to develop more and more artwork to go along with my vision for the characters. Glinda just happens to be the first to go out into the world. Actually, she would go out first anyway – she refuses to be second to anyone. Thanks for checking in.

Truthfully, no. I do not have a good singing voice. I have been called monotone a time or two.
I grew up loving art. I wanted to write and draw comics as a teen. Twenty years later, now that I have achived another dream by publishing more than one book, I am floating ideas of doing a graphic novel. That is still not set in stone, because I have more Oz stories to write, and I need to practice drawing more (you need to draw a mile of paper before you are any good). But I have a fun Oz story that might work well as a graphic novel. Stay tuned.

I love your concept of Glinda 😀 Would be happy to see your versions of the other HH characters especially the other Witches of Oz like Kaliyna/Kally and Locasta. Thank you for all the wonderful work you do.
